Protect Against Birth Haemorrhage Campaign Welcomes New Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

We welcome the New Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Yvette Cooper MP, and her recent statement highlighting the need for urgent work to improve maternity services in the UK. 

Postpartum haemorrhage is one of the most serious complications faced during childbirth. It affects more than one in four births in the UK and can have serious long-term physical and mental health impacts. Yet too often, its risks, impact and innovative treatment do not receive the attention they deserve in policy-making.

The Protect Against Birth Haemorrhage Campaign looks forward to engaging with the Health Secretary and her ministerial team to ensure the upcoming National Maternity and Neonatal Taskforce and Action Plan considers postpartum haemorrhage and how we improve outcomes and access to appropriate treatments and innovations.
